Lessons for Trump:
In 2008 multinational mining giant VALE tried to break the back of Canada's nickel/copper workers. They thought Canada was a pushover.
The miners resisted with the longest strike in CDN history.
It cost a lot of pain but we didn't back down.
We were there to fight for Canada.

The temperature at noon on Monday will be 22 degrees which is the same temperature it was in 1961 when Kennedy was inaugurated.

The ceremony was held outside.

Renewables and nuclear accounted for 82% of electricity generated in Spain and Portugal in 2024. Renewables made up 63.9% of the total, nuclear another 17.9%.

The two countries operate like an “energy island”, having limited interconnection with the rest of Europe (due in part to the Pyrenees).

Good analysis of why fact checking on social media matters in a world where false claims are sticky + go viral so fast.

But no mention of how X + Meta have altered their algorithms to suppress expert accounts & factual info.

Fact checking on those platforms isn’t a level field. It’s a steep cliff.
Climate misinformation is rife on social media – and poised to get worse
Meta’s decision could open the floodgates to more climate misinformation on its apps, including misleading or out-of-context claims during disasters.

Canada, UK, EU and all countries that still believe in democracy should put 200% tariffs on Tesla cars or even better, just ban them.
This one's a no brainer.
Where should we levy the first tariff retaliation?

Journalists - Do Your Jobs. These mega-fires have called forth a mega-failure by much of the news media. A review of coverage shows most journalism is still not accurately representing how the climate crisis is upending our civilization by driving increasingly frequent and severe extreme weather.
The media needs to show how the climate crisis is fueling the LA wildfires
With few exceptions, the news has shied away from showing how the unfolding climate crisis plays a large role in the disaster

The incoming, hypocritical Trump administration in a nutshell:

Bribe-taking liar, Pam Bondi, and adulterer and tongue-talkin’ con artist, Paula White, doing what Jesus forbade (praying so that other people can see you do it--Matt 6:5-6) to prove just how gosh-darn holy they are, y’all.

LA is burning & our implicit political baseline is still that climate policies are acceptable if and only if they require zero sacrifice or even mild lifestyle change on anyone's part.
Public will not have to change lives ‘radically’ for climate goal, MPs promised
