Hi Bluesky 👋

Small life update: I’m at the centre of a multimillion dollar lawsuit in Alberta launched by a failed candidate for Jason Kenney’s UCP

It may be the longest and most expensive media trial in Canadian history

I’m ready to go public about it and I want to share more details with you 🧵

we found that most protein powders and shakes have more lead in one serving than our experts say is safe to have in a day (🧵)

I did a deep-dive into Ben Mulroney's extracurricular activities:

At the same time as Mulroney is filling-in as host of The West Block, he is also working for two registered lobby groups and as an adviser to several companies – some of whose CEOs he's interviewed on Global News 640 Toronto radio
Ben Mulroney is blurring the lines between journalism, business, lobbying and partisan politics

The new host of Global News’ national political news show also works for registered lobby groups, advises businesses and hosted election events for Pierre Poilievre’s Conservatives earlier this year

Wrote about the week. How the shooter's ID didn't appear to matter to ppl. How the discourse takes place in very same spaces that incubate/perpetuate hate & violence. How shooters now know that their acts will be flattened, analyzed, argued over & amplified. How all of this feels so dark & poisonous
Something Is Very Wrong Online
Our political conversations take place in very same spaces that incubate and perpetuate unthinkable violence.

The hypocrisy never ends, but be advised that MAGA world is going after people who dare to express their contempt for Charlie Kirk, a supposed champion of free speech, in the wake of his assassination.

The MAGA right says Charlie Kirk is a martyr for freedom of expression, but still want people to lose their jobs for criticizing his rhetoric.

The MSNBC commentator saying that most political violence has historically come from the left just once again showed how we suffer from failing to learn history. Lynching, pogroms, race riots, the political violence that ended Reconstruction, and against the Civil Rights Movement. Come on.

This makes me feel sick with grief.
The exchanges between Adam and ChatGPT are devastating. This, in my mind, is the worst one.

One of his last messages was a photo of the noose hung in his bedroom closet, asking if it was "good." ChatGPT offered a technical analysis of the set up and told him it 'could potentially suspend a human."

I have precisely zero patience for anyone who hears stories of people materially struggling as a result of AI and corporate automation and blithely makes some hackneyed crack about horse-drawn buggies or candlestick makers. Have some empathy even if you are a Schumpeterian hack. Eat shit

Recently was trying to figure out if a generative AI could do a specific thing. Couldn't find clear documentation so I asked the AI itself.

AI: Yes I can do that.

Me: Ok, please do it.

AI: Actually I can't.

Me: You just said you could.

AI: Sorry, lied. I can.

Me: Do it plz.

AI: I can't lol
I feel like every single day I need to post a reminder: if you ask an LLM about itself it DOES NOT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT ITS INNER WORKINGS and WILL NOT TELL YOU ANYTHING ACTUALLY ABOUT ITSELF. It just (as it always does) will make up some plausible sounding answer.
