“Your kids should get less for Christmas than kids have in a communist China.”
Trump: "You can give up certain products. You could give up pencils. Because under the China policy, every child can get 37 pencils. They only need 1 or 2. They don't need that many. You always need steel. You don't need 37 dolls for your daughter. 2 or 3 is nice. So we're doing things right."

I don’t understand how the Republican candidate for Miami mayor could have possibly lost when he was endorsed by Donald Trump, Ron Desantis, Rick Scott and Ted Cruz.

Obviously this is not a defense of Greene, but it's clear that the secret sauce of Trump 2 is death threats and it's good when people who are receiving them start talking about it. That's the only way we get through this time.
Marjorie Taylor Greene: "I sent those deaths threats directly to him in a text message & informed him of what his name calling & words were doing - it was a direct assassination threat on my son. And he was extremely - I won't repeat what he said - but it was extremely unkind. No sympathy. No care"

The had good precedent. John Roberts promised he would only call balls and strikes. Nothing about a “shadow docket” designed to create binding rules for lower courts, but not binding precedents for the court itself. Pure Calvinball.
In their confirmation hearings, RFK Jr pledged he would not be anti-vax, Hegseth said he respected women serving in leadership positions in the military, and Bondi said she would not weaponize DOJ against Trump’s political enemies.

It's good—very good, and very important—that district courts keep issuing these 100-page rulings upholding the law. It must be incredibly dispiriting to see them overturned in a two-page, lawless, unsigned order, but please, keep them coming. They expose SCOTUS' corruption like nothing else.

🚨BREAKING NEWS🚨

I’m partnering with Rep. Massie & @joaquincastrotx.bsky.social to introduce a War Powers Resolution that will force a vote in Congress to block Trump’s insane escalations against Venezuela.

No one except Trump wants this war—so I’m going to use every tool I have to stop him.

I’ve been surprised hardly anyone has been saying this. HE’S ENDANGERING OUR OWN TROOPS.
Since I haven’t seen anyone mention this: When the U.S. commits war crimes it puts our troops in danger also, as it gives a green light to other countries that they can do the same to us

Kelly: He runs around on stage talking about lethality and the warrior ethos.. That’s not the message that should be coming from the Secretary of Defense… He runs around on a stage like he’s a 12 year old playing army. It’s embarrassing.

TN07 is a story about gerrymandering: the GOP cracked Nashville into 3 districts when it redrew the 2022 map, destroying the Dem seat there.

Fast-forward: a section of Nashville, which just 5 years ago had a Dem representative, is now voting Dem by huge margins but it's been designed to not matter.

Trump's overt-the-top response to Kelly and others has helped elevate their status. I've no doubt that they now have more legitimate concerns about their safety, but they've shown how picking a fight with Trump is good politics.

The president is a political cartoon of corruption come to life, a gaudy grifter who is selling off pardons and lining his pockets, building a golden ballroom and protecting his fellow sex predator elites, all the while regular Americans are suffering and struggling to make ends meet.

Run on *that*

How did the @nytimes.com editors let this sentence appear?

I wrote a piece recently about how Trump, Putin, Musk and the rest are actually fellow citizens of a borderless, lawless society designed to enrich themselves at the expense of everyone else. Politics and patriotism are just a cover.
"By dangling multibillion-dollar rare-earth and energy deals, Moscow could reshape the economic map of Europe—while driving a wedge between America and its traditional allies"

It’s clear that the primary interest of the US in “peace negotiations” is to create opportunities for Trump, Witkoff, their family members, business partners and cronies to make billions from business deals with Russia, and Ukraine is just the annoying nuisance in the way.

It was only a failure if you assume they ever had good intentions. If you assume they intended to destroy the federal government from within, they succeeded.

We’ll be dealing with the results of this monumental breach of the federal government for many years to come.
This point needs to be made and frequently.
