The BBC should call Trump’s bluff, say “see you in court”. His claim is ridiculous and he’s not going to win. All his ‘victories’ so far have been because rich media owners caved. The BBC doesn’t have that issue. Stand up to the buffoon.

I tend to give books as presents when I don’t know what else to get. I try to buy them from indie bookshops, not Amazon, because that way there’s someone else I like who benefits, instead of an actively harmful company. My favourite bookshop is @newhambookshop.bsky.social.

Pretty much every study has shown the BBC news coverage has a soft bias towards the government of the day, with that bias slightly stronger towards a right wing government. That’s why the right wing press has to inflate any incident like this.

While I’m hugely in favour, on principle, of both a written constitution and voting reform (not voting Reform), America shows that a constitution is pointless if someone just comes in and ignores it. So I fear it would be no protection.
We're facing a political emergency: a high likelihood of an shamelessly authoritarian government in 2029. So we urgently need this basic safeguard: a codified constitution.
