“Think David Attenborough meets a snarky film critic. A delightful mix of wildlife passion and pop culture commentary!” apparently… 😉
The Workers Party that plans to destroy workers’ rights.
If they win they’ll spend five years blaming everyone else as they wreck the country and steal as much money as they possibly can.

Very kind of this little egret to tolerate us watching it fishing. I didn’t capture it but it was successful a few times.

Four red admirals joining the painted lady today. The latter basically appeared once the sun came out and hasn’t moved from the garden all day.

Exactly five years ago there was a painted lady on the verbena in the garden. This afternoon, look what we have!

I think my #favouriteflower for #wildflowerhour was the spectacular display of red hemp nettle in East Yorkshire this year on a couple of @yorkswildlife.bsky.social reserves.

Just had a hummingbird hawk moth in the garden, first for a couple of years. Always a treat. Never feels like they can possibly be generating enough energy to sustain their lifestyle.

Red hemp nettle in Yorkshire. Increasingly rare but this year has seen an exceptional burst of plants and flowers.

I had a particular problem with this section. It’s true that “I don’t know who they are” lies at the heart of the issue, but not for the reason they say. And the BBC unquestioningly indulge that view.

Good to find our second urban peregrine nest in Reims. Fourth juvenile appeared seconds later, shortly followed by both parents, almost immediately followed by absolute noisy chaos.

Currently, or within the past week, we’ve got red admiral, comma, small and large white, brimstone, peacock, ringlet, gatekeeper, small tortoiseshell and small skipper in the garden. I was very excited by this. Then I realised how depressing it is that such small numbers are so exciting.

Nice to see a fine longhorn beetle in the garden this lunchtime. Also the first ringlet in the garden for a few years.

Also, if I didn’t already know, I’d be confident now why the box hedge is getting decimated. Three years ago, one in the trap. Tonight, everywhere,

@ecology-digest.bsky.social Based on BAS website this Mangora acalypha in York would be about the most northerly record? Assuming I’ve identified it correctly of course! I’d imagine there are other records just not yet uploaded.

The brimstone caterpillars are eating themselves out of house and home. Also, big emergence of garden chafers in the past 24 hours, now blundering into everything.
