-- Despite no open public consultation event being held, a number of councillors strongly praised the process. #Limerick There is an important consulation on Thurs 6th March in the Old Dunnes on Sarsfield St. It's about High St / Wickham St and giving the businesses & residents there a better future. They've done amazing work but need this project & the cost of not doing it could be ruinous. (Long 🧵 1/17)

The yellow route for the Wickham St to Clare St scheme from Limerick Council can’t come quick enough.

The current setup is failing business, shoppers, drivers, and those walking or cycling.

Great news to see the Wickham St to Clare St scheme progress!

It’s an essential piece of the puzzle alongside the Milk Market quarter and Opera projects in revitalising the city centre.

“A Christmas miracle”: Limerick Mayor says closing bus lane for motorists to use it cannot be justified “at this time”
Limerick's directly elected Mayor, John Moran, has said that, given the feedback received and policies in place, he "cannot justify the pilot requested" to close the bus lane on the city's O'Connell Street "at this time". He said that the feedback included transport agencies and that there was an "absence of overwhelming public appetite for even a pilot for Christmas."

Never forget, if you design a city for cars, it fails for everyone, including drivers.

If you design a multi-modal city that makes walking, biking and public transit attractive options, it works better for everyone, including drivers.

INCLUDING DRIVERS.

The “war on cars” has always been a lie.
