NEW: @propublica.org investigated the Chicago apartment raid where kids were zip-tied and citizens detained for hours. They find:

- NONE of the arrested were criminally charged
- NO evidence the building was "filled with TdA terrorists."
- ZERO legitimate reason for DHS to rappel from a Blackhawk.

One of the few things the Abundance people are straightforwardly right about is that progressives need to stand up for their values and demonstrate their worth.

Wilson should be *extremely* aggressive in making the city better. Win the next election on outcomes, not process.
The way for progressive mayors to win reelections is to go all in

Seattle has had a series of mayors who got elected promising to “finally” use police to crack down on homelessness — the existing policy that every previous mayor has deployed.

Once they get into office they don’t deliver because it doesn’t work. We waste four years and the problem gets worse.
The story about the gun got buried, virtually nobody in any position of influence talked about it. The more significant element of this was money. The business class within Seattle really liked his harsh-crackdowns-on-unhoused-people policy, and they put a lot of resources behind his campaign.

Can we circle back to the part where the NY Times never disclosed that they have incriminating information on Donald Trump from sent by Epstein that's been sitting on their email servers for nearly a decade?
Stuff like this makes me wonder why there hasn't been any reporting about Trump having affairs during his presidencies

I have been screaming this to the heavens for years and it’s lovely to see more people noticing: BEING safe is a right, FEELING safe is between you and your therapist. And the demand to FEEL safe is constantly weaponized to deprive other people of their real, actual safety.
One thing the NYC mayoral race underscored for me is how easily the phrase "I don't feel safe" can be weaponized. It's an argument I would hesitate ever to use again, even for a good cause. I hope we can all agree that we have the right to BE safe. Maybe we should leave it at that.

Some have suggested Zohran's success is rooted *only* in cost of living. But he also ran hard against Trump's authoritarianism/ICE raids. He ran the most explicitly pro-immigrant, pro-cosmopolitan campaign in memory.

Let's say it: He ran an anti-fascist campaign. 5/

When the freelancers and contributors did the trans rights letter we really thought the fact that they think highly enough of us to pay us to write/draw/shoot for them would have made them pay attention. Just the opposite: It triggered their innate contempt for their perceived lessers.
A lot of nyt folks, me among them, believed we could change the culture and the coverage from the inside. That by working within channels, we could convince the leadership of its obligation to cover trans ppl fairly.

In hindsight I’ve come to think I was naive.
