Remember & honor our trans elders always
A very important thread. When I was probably no more than 10, I saw this picture of the woman known as Harlow in the Philly Inquirer. A little babygay, I was shocked that such a glamour queen could live in my hometown and even more shocked to see her described as "a former man."

Y'all this book is.... something. If you don't want to read it though, there is a reslly good movie adaption with Johnathan Rhys Meyers from the 90s.

There's 2:
finding weird bruises on my body because I've likely ran into or hit something & didn't know it
AND
regularly near concussing myself on walls, door corners, cabinets, etc

both from my poor vestibular & proprioception (spatial & depth perception)
What's a casual everyday horror you've just accepted you'll have to deal with for the rest of your days? One of mine is finding out my shirt is riding up when I'm doing something in the kitchen and the bare skin of my abdomen makes contact with the permanently icy countertop.

the baby, Chance, has been in the NICU ever since, and the family is on the hook for every dime.

Can we talk about the fact that there's a company that wants to block out the sun AND a company that wants to put mirrors in space so you can aim sunbeams in the middle of the night if you want to and I need EVERYBODY to quit torment-nexusing the sky?
A 25-person startup is developing technology to block the sun and turn down the planet’s thermostat.

The stakes are huge — and the company and its critics say regulations need to catch up.

Color me shocked....
Almost everyone with a high level of racial resentment tended to vote for Trump in the 2024 election, regardless of educational attainment. Conversely, those with a low racial resentment score tended to support Harris, whether they had a college degree or not.

I wish I could say I was surprised. The douchenozzles are holding these things hostage to get their way with healthcare. the other goal is to make people so desperate that they end up in jail or prison which then gives the greedy fucks a free labor force.

LOTR EE trilogy... I maintain it counts as one because they filmed all of the movies at one time. But also Wizard of Oz, The Lost Boys... To be honest I don't really know if I understand the sense of a comfort movie but these bring some amount of joy when I watch them so I think that counts

As the article mentions, there are parallels to the pandemic — but this time, there’s no financial help. If anyone knows about economists who’ve written about behavioral economics during times of extreme fear for one’s safety (specifically during abundance, not scarcity) pls lmk. Curious to read.
