this is bloody incredible writing.
They called them Near Abroad Direct Action Operations, NADA Ops. The "joke" in the CalSec cafeterias, which made its way out later in the hearings was that "What does the operator say when asked if there are civilians in the area? Nada...oops!". Even decades later, Arizona didn't find it funny.

Trump in a room with a very charismatic person results in like half a day of Trump agreeing with everything that person said, so this has the potential to be very, very funny.

I remember when there was a discussion on Twitter about Shein's manufacturing practices and some apologists invented all sorts of fantastical machinery and technology to avoid facing the more horrifying truth. Reminds me of this comedian's joke.

TurboTax is about to be integrated into ChatGPT, where customers will be guided through tasks tied to their tax filings or financial profile by the AI chatbot.

TurboTax owner Intuit is also paying OpenAI more than $100 million a year to power AI agents.

YOU INVITED YARVIN TO GIVE THE OAKSHOTTE LECTURES?!
See also Curtis Yarvin's remarks in a recent Oxford lecture:

"Say what you want about MBS, he's quite an effective king I think in a lot of different ways. Um love the Ritz thing, the whole Saudi embassy thing, I don't know, but I mean he was a journalist". [Giggles]

Looking forward to this, my first conference in over five years! Well worth the drive down from Auckland.
I find conference organising super stressful, but it is a chance to imagine the field in ways that interest you.

I'm very proud of the programme we have for our joint Romantic Studies Association of Australasia / David Nichol Smith seminar - you can see it here www.wgtn.ac.nz/fhss/about/e...

I love Aristotle, because his political opinion boils down to "All things considered, democracy is the best available form of government, except for the very specific king that it is a pure coincidence I used to work for."

Well, yes. Having been beaten up a lot as a child / teenager it’s essentially ‘huh what’s going o… AAAA’. Or, in the case of being knocked out by a flying bottle, a lights out situation.
I think a lot of people grossly overestimate their own ability to respond to physical violence, especially when the other individual intends serious physical harm.

I was accosted and beaten as a younger man and I can tell you that by the time I understood what was happening the fight was over.
