The liberal is willing to sacrifice moral integrity for the sake of decorum, while the leftist is willing to sacrifice decorum for the sake of moral integrity.

Many forget that before “The Birth of a Nation”, KKK membership was dwindling. But the movie depicted them positively and was even praised by President Wilson. Membership exploded. Endorsing and praising white supremacists and nazi sympathizers by the President today can lead us down the same road.

China appears set to become the world's first clean tech hegemon, their global influence & domestic economy secured through a network of minerals, batteries, EVs, solar, wind & nuclear production & exports. Meanwhile, the US under Trump tries to hang on to its role as 20th century petro-hegemon. 🔌💡

I keep trying to play Stardew Valley to relax only to get stressed out by planning the days for maximum farm efficiency and worrying about getting all the chores packed into the days. It's a more stressful game to me than Elden Ring or any survival horror game

Seems a little bad to me

I mean, really what I wish is that art didn't have to be in constant conversation with commerce in order to justify and perpetuate its existence, but that feels like a harder problem to solve.

Lately i've been thinking about how many of the processes traditional media has used to build trust (an editorial bureaucracy, lots of editing, making work more concise, and hiding a lot of that work & presenting a polished finished product) now read to audiences as inauthentic & less trustworthy
Yesterday I had a fellow YouTuber ask me how we ended up being a credible source of information to our audiences and I realized that you almost can’t be a professional creator /without/ doing that.

“Authentic” is very very connected to “trustworthy.”

OKAY! So. Thanks to popular culture, when most people hear "pirate ship" they think of a big, intimidating, heavily armed vessel like a galleon or a man-of-war, like this commandeered Spanish vessel from season 2 of BLACK SAILS. 🏴‍☠️

Spotify's been around for over 15 years. If it's taken them that long to finally turn a profit on their product, it seems unreasonable to ask artists to continue subsidizing a system that's clearly not working.

This is part of why I'm so big on the art-as-experience framework: That album you didn't like a decade ago? It doesn't exist anymore. There's still an album out there with all the same songs, but it's a new work of art now and you might enjoy this one.
