probably my most deeply-held belief: it is not possible for a slide deck to be both (1) a good presentation aide; and (2) a standalone document that can be read and understood in isolation.

This thread got me thinking.🤔

1️⃣ Every ATProto user has a public key.
2️⃣ Every ATProto user has a domain name, which means it can have MX records to route email.

Someone (@bsky.app) could build an ATProto-aware client with smarts to encrypt/sign emails sent to users with ATProto enabled email.💡🔐📧

The one thing SMTP has going for it is network effect (a very large N²) Which means we are going to have it for decades.

The question is what do we do about this?

I wonder if it will take a product with a large user base (like WhatsApp size) to build a new client that reimagines the entire UX?

And, given the comments (thank you for all the considered ones), I want to make my position clear: AI is a general purpose technology that will impact many aspects of life & work soon. Some impacts will be good & others very bad. Mitigating the bad & building on the good is key to all of our futures

does anyone else find that auto-rotating maps (as in video game minimaps, satnavs, etc.) make it impossible to actually learn where things are? I need north to be up at all times.

I'm in awe at the incredible coordination effort that was needed in order to... launch Gemini nag popups on every Google product, all on the same day.

Not even kidding, that's immense. Imagine if they did something useful with that energy.

Once again reminding people that "the wellness industry" is a scam.

If someone is selling you supplements that "doctors don't want you to know about" it's because it's a scam. These treatments UNIVERSALLY fail at peer review, which is why they rely on testimonials instead.

Just FYI, administrative warrants (like the ones used by ICE) are not judicial warrants (used by cops, signed by a judge).

You do NOT legally have to open the door for an ICE officer with an administrative warrant *no matter what the ICE officer says.*
