this isn't possible i'm sorry! A gigawatt of data center development is currently taking about 2.5 years (see: abilene) and that's with established partners and chips that have actually launched (the mi450 hasn't). Do they even have the land?
As part of the OpenAI-AMD deal, OpenAI will receive the first GW worth of AMD's Instinct MI450 chip in H2 2026, when the new chip is scheduled for deployment (Rebecca Bellan/TechCrunch)

This is why the markets are going to have such a tough time when the bubble bursts. This money doesn’t exist, and suggesting it does or humoring it is how companies get away with what amounts to lying. $4.5bn per quarter “by 2026”?? So in the next three months? Huh?
$AMD - BARCLAYS RAISES AMD PRICE TARGET TO $300 FROM $200 Barclays analyst Tom O'Malley raised AMD’s price target to $300 from $200, keeping an Overweight rating. He said the OpenAI deal, including warrants tied to stock milestones, could add ~$4.5B per quarter by 2026,

This is all complete nonsense. How are they building the capacity? Who is paying for it? Data centers take two and a half years a gigawatt. No real money has changed hands! Bullshit galore

Really, truly amazing that OpenAI wants us to believe that they are worth a trillion dollars but also they are so desperate for revenue that they created an infinite SlopTok app that opens them up to a billion lawsuits just so that they can maybe someday make it even worse by filling it with ads.

"it can't be uninvented! it's here to stay!" it literally can be uninvented, none of that nonsense is happening on your computer, it's all happening in a massive and massively unprofitable data center somewhere. You can't run that locally. The moment someone pulls the plug, it's gone.

People who coax chatbots into sensible answers are basically opening and closing the fridge until it contains something you wanna eat, yes, eventually you get hungrier & eat the stuff in there. But what changed was your cognition. The fridge stayed the same. You changed your mind about the contents.

Watching a kid learn to ride a bike. Always fascinating. Show me a humanoid robot able to spontaneously learn to control a machine like that, with minimal supervision and instruction and do it in a few hours. We don’t need fancy benchmarks to understand we are nowhere near AGI.

I cannot express how bad this story is for generative AI. OpenAI is burning hundreds of millions of dollars to try and make GPT-5 a meaningful upgrade, and it isn't working. Where does all of this go? How does this result in anything?

Pro-tip: next time someone invites you to their ChatGPT webinar, ask them if they used ChatGPT to write the script for it.

IF THEY SAY YES: Ask them why you should go when you can ask ChatGPT for the same info yourself.

IF THEY SAY NO: Oh, so they don't trust ChatGPT to generate quality content?
