@davidmbarnett.bsky.social rightly looks askance at the use of "bravely" to describe people living with/fighting cancer, but this is, undeniably, brave writing. All best wishes to him, and huge credit to the NHS.

Anyone should be at liberty to block anyone, for any reason or none, without criticism or recrimination. You're in a common space, but you have the right not to spend time in the company of people you don't enjoy.

Practically speaking, though, it's impossible to persuade everyone to agree.

This feels accurate - the EHRC seems no longer to be communicating with UKGov through conventional channels, and is instead seeking to put on pressure through open letters, leaks to media etc.

Not really cricket, but not an unreasonable tactic.
