The right words, but reality is that there are no guarantees that can be given by todays leaders that tomorrows leaders have to honour. The commitments that previous US presidents made to NATO have no meaning to Donald Trump.

The political record of such actions can, at best, be described as spotty. It can appear to work when there is no deep anger among the electorate, but it can backfire spectacularly when the voter decide that that is the type of thing that they angry with at the gov't.

American gun culture leaks over the border into Canada, and what that amounts to is a small number of people want to kill other people without consequences or accountability. If your actions were justified, stand in front of a jury and convince one of them that it was justified.
