According to a 2022 MBIE report, 110,000 #NZ households cannot keep warm. Meanwhile, the 4 big power “gentailers” (who generate electricity as well as sell it) make collective profits of $2.85 billion per year = $7.8 million every day. Re-Nationalise #Power Companies #nzpol

When Judith "apologised" for saying teachers earn $147k, she then got another dig in by saying that teachers get 3 months holiday a year. By that measure, do MPs only work on the days parliament is sitting (about 90 days according to Google)? #NZPol

this speaks to me of someone who is so out of touch with what it is like to live in NZ they think maaori words aren't a part of NZ English. or worse speaks to the NZ they want to create; one absent the language that has been with this land for centuries.
Education Minister cut Māori words from future junior books, documents reveal
The near-total ban was driven by concern it would be confusing for children learning to read English, documents show.

I don’t know who needs to hear this but this whole renters don’t pay rates “at all” thing is just silly. We make this weekly payment called “rent” to our landlords, who then pay rates on the homes we live in. These people ⬇️ and about half the city.

As a New Zealander currently overseas, what I really want New Zealanders to know is: Inflation was high everywhere. Skyrocketing unemployment and business closures are a uniquely NZ thing.

The first was due to global economic conditions, the second is a direct result of NZ government policy.

History matters. Philosophy matters. Languages and literature matter. Indigenous studies matter. Arts and humanities and social sciences matter. All of them.

My cartoon in today's www.thepost.co.nz/nz-news/3503...

At the weekend we saw over 20,000 people from all walks of life demonstrating that they do not want this bill to be passed. The hubris and nonchalant attitude towards our people and the environment is breathtaking.
