You know what would be a really popular law? A total ban on Christmas decorations in shops before December 1st.

This is my pitch for being Prime
Minister of New Zealand.

There sure are a lot of people who have been bullied by their unions into striking today

So much of this govt's strike messaging is 'these selfish ingrates are paid well & don't have the moral right to strike' which is so far beyond believable reality that it's just a weird choice. If they just said 'no money left soz', they'd get more public sympathy than for this Evil Mr Burns stuff.

“Politically motivated strikes” gotta be the funniest phrase I’ve ever read.

WHAT LED TO PEOPLE NOT GETTING PAID ENOUGH AND WORKING CONDITIONS BEING SHIT EH?

Was it fairies? Gnomes perhaps. Everything is fucking politics. They think we are stupid.

I went to the cinema last night. They played the trailer for the Springsteen biopic. The annoyingly chatty woman behind me exclaimed loudly “OH IT’S THE BOB DYLAN MOVIE” and I am not proud to say I grunted back “no it’s the SPRINGSTEEN movie”.

This is why people hate me.

I declare the “humid, windy and overcast spring day” the worst weather type of all time.

Luxon is the kind of man who claims every entitlement he qualifies for whether he needs it or not.

Luxon is the kind of man that takes benefit entitlements away from 18 and 19 year olds, saying that "the world doesn't owe them a living."

Luxon has created an economy where they can't find jobs.

The pre-election CTU ads were spot on & were true.

“Out of touch. Too much risk” was the primary message, and inside the paper, the ad elaborated, saying he was focused on the wealthiest, called people “bottom feeders”, would scrap Fair Pay Agreements, and would give landlords tax breaks."

Small consolation given how bad everything is, but it gives me some solace to know that not only will Luxon be remembered as the worst PM in living memory, but Willis will also be remembered as the worst finance minister.

Petty things that annoy me - Louise Upston putting the emphasis the “Jam” in Pearl Jam. She’s Gen X, surely she’s heard someone say the band’s name at some point in the last 30 years.

Parenting has made me way less of a film festival regular than in my pre-parent days. However, I managed to catch three great NZIFF music documentaries recently

* Anchor Me - The Don McGlashan Story
* Life in One Chord (about Shayne Carter)
* It’s Never Over, Jeff Buckley

All highly recommended

I am not sure what kind of mainstream release the Don McGlashan film will get, but if you didn’t see it at the film festival last night, try to find an opportunity to see it elsewhere. It’s marvellous.
