American politics makes a lot more sense when you realize that the GOP is afraid of pissing off the GOP base, and the Dems are afraid of pissing off the GOP base, but neither party is afraid of pissing off the Dem base.

This is exactly right: it's real violence, but a performance at the same time
You need to see this:

Few things are important enough to justify the security risk that Pete Hegseth’s planned military gathering poses, @radiofreetom.bsky.social argues in The Atlantic Daily:
Why Does Hegseth Want More Than 800 Admirals and Generals in the Same Room?
Few things are important enough to justify the security risk of putting all of these people in the same place.

Trump is ordering the military to use “full force” against an American city, while the Supreme Court declares him the Sun King and Congress hides under a pile of coats.

This has nothing to do with the law - it is revenge. We know that is because Trump’s own appointed US Attorney just resigned because he refused to make a mockery of justice. So they brought in Trump’s hack personal attorney to do it. This is about abuse of power by Trump & Bondi.

The Supreme Court’s rationale for granting absolute immunity, *even for “sham” prosecutions*, is that it would prevent a president from going after his predecessor. So it protects former presidents (sort of), but no one else.

Great job, CJ
Friday: a prosecutor is forced to resign bc he concludes there's not enough evidence to go after Trump's perceived enemies

Saturday: Trump makes public post asking Attorney General why she hasn't gone after his enemies

Wednesday: DOJ says enemy indictment coming right up sir

do I have that right?
BREAKING on MSNBC:

Former FBI Director James Comey is expected to be indicted in the coming days in the Eastern District of Virginia, where a prosecutor who opposed bringing the case was recently fired, three sources familiar with the matter told MSNBC.

Here is Jimmy Kimmel’s full monologue from tonight.

Jokes on FCC Chairman Brendan Carr, Trump, Tylenol, etc.
Jimmy Kimmel is Back!
Jimmy Kimmel returns to the air and talks about all of the people who have reached out over the last six days including fellow late night talk show hosts, fans of the show, and those who don’t support what he believes but support his right to share those beliefs anyway, and he expresses that it was never his intention to make light of the murder of a young man, how important it is to live in a country that allows us to have a show like this, the Chairman of the FCC Brendan Carr telling an American company that “We can do this the easy way or the hard way,” Trump saying he has no talent and no ratings, being fortunate to work at a company that has allowed us to do the show we want to do for almost 23 years, not agreeing with the decision to have our show pulled off the air last Wednesday, Trump making it very clear he wants to see Jimmy and other late night hosts fired, and solidarity from the right, left and those in the middle. Then Jimmy talks to the new FCC Chairman (Robert De Niro), and gets into Trump’s day addressing the United Nations, the escalator breaking, having trouble with the teleprompter, and the headache he’s creating with his buddy RFK over Tylenol.
