I'm sorry Canada but most stablecoins are already backed by a loonie.
Instead of protecting Canadians from scams, Mark Carney’s Liberals are planning to develop a framework for stablecoins after crypto billionaires spent big to buy one in the United States.

There were already 50 year mortgages in places like San Francisco. It means the house “buyers” never actually own the house. You’re just renting from the bank instead from a landlord. Think twice before you do this to yourself. In some markets there is little choice. But in many walk away. 🏠💸

Given his history with government run medical insurance, it seems more likely that his plan stops at "I would take all of the remaining ACA subsidies."
Rick Scott told me his plan would be to take all of the remaining ACA subsidies and redistribute them to HSA accounts and people can then buy whatever insurance a state certifies. Basically a repeal/replace.
He denied when I asked wouldn’t that create two-tiered system where sick pay much more…

I agree with Graham that Leonard Chanin was terrible but this Pulte guy seems pretty bad too.
Starting to think that putting a deeply partisan sycophant with no housing policy expertise in charge of US housing policy was not a great idea.

Very noble to defame every Democratic Senator as a suspect rather than just naming names.
🚨 Tim Kaine is saying the quiet part out loud - underscoring why anyone shouldn't be satisfied with any of the "no" statements or posts from Dem Senators.
If Dem Senators are truly disgusted with this save they should be calling on #SurrenderSchumer to step aside as the Leader immediately.

We need to do this in a way that doesn't allow Gillibrand to be his replacement.
After yesterday’s surrender, we’re launching the largest Democratic primary program that we’ve ever run.
We will not back any Senate primary candidate unless they call for Schumer to step down as Minority Leader.
If you’re as pissed as we are, join this campaign to rebuild the Democratic Party. 👇

CDs are great but I prefer the inconvenience of flipping a record every 20 minutes, negligibly different audio quality, an unwinnable battle with the noise floor and the inordinate amount of space they take up.
God I wish any of that was sarcasm.

I’m a vinyl guy, obviously, but the hobby is both expensive, time-consuming, and space consuming, and CDs will almost always do in a pinch if you don’t care about the wonkier aspects of LPs like holding a jacket in your hands or whatever bsky.app/profile/dman...
Interesting convo with a friend who owns a hip NYC record shop about a sudden renewed interest in CDs, which were a negligible part of his business till recently.

I know I'm crypto obsessed but.....this was Schumer's strategy on the stablecoin bill. He consistently lets a slim minority of the caucus undermine the majority position of the caucus.
This is consistent with what we reported on Saturday, though the framing is (preposterously) positive.
-Schumer was getting regular updates from the Cave Caucus
-He didn't want to be seen as pro-caving but was fine with them negotiating to cave
-Shaheen wouldn't say Schumer was working against her

First impressions of the bipartisan crypto bill from Senate Ag:
The definition of a digital commodity relies on transfers "...without necessary reliance on an intermediary..." Nowhere in 155 pages does it appear to consider whether a validator is an intermediary.
These are not serious people.

Carrying assault rifles while wearing masks and body armor in an American city where 2.7 million citizens *don't* is a pretty loud declaration that you are not a tough and elite police force but actually a bunch of scared little children.
Now, every time a gun goes off in Chicago, the Border Patrol will decide a terrorist is trying to kill them? And, in their panic, attack the community?
What a bunch of weak, scared poseurs.

News: Police arrested a man with a gun Saturday in Little Village, a few hours after CBP agents said someone in a black Jeep had fired at them a block north. Police records list the Jeep the man was in as a possible match to the car federal agents described.
