#NowPlaying Fantastic collection of '60s–'70s Polish jazz, though I could do with a little more Andrej Kurylewicz (instrumental) and a little less Novi Singers (vocal, bordering on breezy '60s family-pop that always sounds ironic today).

We finally have a cabinet-level official who's unafraid or even proud to admit that he's done drugs—and coke, not just pot. But coming from RFK Jr. it's not "Wow, a normal guy who's done drugs like a normal person" but "Ick, what a sleazebag."

Nice piece of "land art," except it's my bathtub, which has been clogged and backing up for the last couple of days. Impossible to get someone over to snake it over a long holiday weekend. Thank goodness I'm on good enough terms with my ex-wife to use her shower.

Hurry, there may still be a few German "ICE" people who are still alive.
Germany's far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD), the party supported by JD Vance and Elon Musk, are now looking to ICE in the US for inspiration and saying Germany needs an ICE of its own. www.politico.eu/article/euro...
European far-right parties push for ICE-style police
Fringe figures want to follow the Trump playbook for tackling unauthorized migration.

However you feel about Valentine's Day, we think you'll ❤️ this list. WFMU's Suzy Hotrod asked her fellow DJs to pick their favorite love song (only one choice allowed!), and here are the results.

WFMU is the world's greatest radio station, but somehow it's not-strictly-radio things like LCD that really drive that home for me. Props to editor @kendraplex.bsky.social.
The LCD centerfold, containing the current @wfmu.bsky.social schedule (by Don Tywoniw), is magnificent even by FMU's exalted standards. (Lame attempt to reproduce it here.)

The new issue of WFMU's program guide/magazine, LCD, is out. It's huge, colorful, and packed with articles mostly on the theme of "the song." I contributed this TRUE STORY about a 17-year earworm that an FMU listener dislodged for me.

I know a few photographers who post exclusively B&W photos, and they're very good (so I'm not talking about them). But there is a tendency to see any B&W photo as inherently arty or profound just because it's B&W, even by the photographers themselves, and that is maddening. #photography

The Trump administration is trying to divide Jews from other marginalized communities at a time of rising antisemitism and fascism, by forcing Jews to choose between supporting ICE or rejecting federal security funding. It is an unacceptable choice,. www.jta.org/2026/02/11/i...
American synagogues are being forced into a terrible choice: Collaborate with ICE or risk our own safety - Jewish Telegraphic Agency
Jewish federations should fund security so synagogues don't have to accept the federal government's conditions, a Philadelphia rabbi urges.

This is wild Trumpist crap (in the Washington Post, of all places). Trump is literally starving Cuba, his reputation as a "dealmaker" is fabricated, and talk of him transforming Cuba into a "free society" while he's establishing fascism in the US is a joke. www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/202...
Opinion | Cuba is collapsing. That’s an opportunity for Trump — and the island.
The president’s love of a deal could drive meaningful change.

I rarely try to get promo copies of records for my radio show, though that's a routine thing. When I do—I'm talking about reissues or box sets of big-selling groups—it's always impossible to figure out who to contact. What label actually released this? There's always an impenetrable maze of names.
