The most important thing in writing is to finish. A finished thing can be fixed. A finished thing can be published. A finished thing can be made into a movie.

An unfinished thing is just a dream. And dreams fade if you don't hold on tight enough.

So finish the thing.
And it was on this day, this hallowed day, we all, as a people, agreed to never again say the name Kim Davis, so she could slink back to her normal life, living in a candy cottage, cooking and eating children who took the wrong dark, crooked path through the woods.

For those asking for the recipe, it's the third one linked here. It's time intensive, but not so labor intensive up front. Most of the time involves sitting untouched in an oven for three hours and hanging out in the fridge overnight. Result is as mind blowing as promised.

Holy hot buttered Christ in a bucket, this was insanely good. Worth several hours in the kitchen over two days. I am wrecked by melt in your mouth wagyu in an ultra reduced wine glaze sauce. All on a bed of buttery mashed potatoes? Fucking. Heaven.

Look. Times are hard. Shit sucks.

Here's a live feed of 11 Springer Spaniel puppies from Finland. Their mother's name is Maru. She shows up every few hours to feed them. She's understandably fucking tired. Just an adorable pack of potates who excel at bettering your mood.

I don't know, after this weekend and the no-getting-around-it way the President is starving people, all this will-they-won't-they cave stuff feels like an attempt to go into tomorrow saying "We tried, but the Republicans said no" making the whole week REPUBLICANS STARVE POOR TO PROTECT EPSTEIN FILES

PLUR1BUS is something we haven't seen in some time on TV: dangerous science fiction. A real think piece. Takes the question played around with in Asmov's GREEN PATCHES, ANNIHILATION, and even SEA OF RUST, to its most interesting conclusion: What if individualism is the biggest threat to world peace?

Tonight I'm experimenting with a new Beef Bourguignon recipe (which won't be ready until tomorrow) but the whole house smells festive and awesome. Hopefully this thing SLAPS. Will report back tomorrow with the pics. Until then, my house smells of beefy wine and onions. So, you know, Heaven.

The guy who is tearing down the white house, redoing bathrooms, building a ball room, proposing arches, wants his face on a coin, and is demanding his name be put on a new stadium might be smearing his name on everything because he knows he's weeks or months away from being six feet in the dirt.

True story: the first time Jess and I saw BIRD WITH THE CRYSTAL PLUMAGE was 25 years ago on 35mm at a Weird Wednesday hosted by tonight’s guest Lars Nilsen. #MutantFam #LastDriveIn

Lars Nilsen was one of the earliest programmers at the original Alamo Drafthouse and the creator of Weird Wednesday. His influence on the Austin film scene, and thus the early online film scene, cannot be understated. Lars is OG and fucking legit. One of the smartest people I’ve ever met.

Tonight's THE LAST DRIVE IN is "Battle of the Black Gloves" - two seminal works of Giallo that played a part in launching the slasher craze in the 70s. Without them there is no Friday, no Chain Saw, no Scream. If you've never seen them, Last Drive In is a great way to do it. Live on Shudder 9PM EST.

I'm having a hard time placing my WICKED: FOR GOOD review, so to the masses I go: I have forgotten more about the play and novel than most people will ever know to begin with, and I would be a huge asset to your outlet.

I'll happily pub on my own, of course, but being paid is also nice!

I've been a redditor for 15 years now, and have given advice on writing, D&D, and filmmaking for years. Now that it's become clear that a TON of shit spat out by language models is drawn from reddit comments, I'm really starting to wonder how many out there are getting my bullshit advice from LLMs.

I feel like we have the opportunity to turn David Lynch's quote into this moment's "Keep Calm and Carry On" and it's a far better rallying cry too.

I have never seen THE BRAVE LITTLE TOASTER, but god damn, that clown firefighter apparently fucked y'all millennials up.
Growing up were there any moments in movies that traumatized you? 😬

For me, it was this son of a bitch right here.

Nebula is Youtube for those of you who love video essays, but not the commercials or right wing algorithm trying to ruin your day. Most of my favorite creators are over there and you can try it for free (It's also cheap as hell.)

Also, Maggie Mae's show is fucking delightful.
If you're holding off on getting a Nebula subscription, I got news for you--

They're giving out free 3 day FREE TRIALS if you use my link below!

I wouldn't have thought, "You can almost smell the mustard and onion," would become a rallying cry like everyone in Rick's Café singing "La Marseillaise," but here we are.
