I am reading that New Yorker profile of Curtis Yarvin and I cannot overemphasize how much he is a stupid person's idea of what a smart person sounds like. I resent having to know who this man is. I wish to wipe him from my memory.

I entered a supermarket last week in Northern Europe that was trialing an AI assistant on those self hand scanning things you carry around. Apparently it recommends accompanying items based on what you'd already scanned. Deranged corporate mindrot stuff
Every company: “Hi! I’m the new Virtual Assistant! As me anything!”

Every consumer: “I’d rather be on fire.”

This reminds me: the last few months I've been revisiting a lot of late 90s and early 2000s MMO stuff. Runescape, Everquest, Ultima etc. It's been such a rich nostalgic experience, and become very clear there's a magic to older games that is rarely itched nowadays.
Everybody has a favorite 1990s RPG. Forget your first round draft picks, though; it’s time to remember the RPGs that hardly ever make any GOAT lists. Here are our favorite cult classic RPGs from the '90s. www.pastemagazine.com/games/rpgs/b...

She was 9 weeks pregnant. She died. The state of Georgia is making the doctors keep her alive to incubate the baby. She’s been dead for three months. This is REAL. this isn’t about what should or should not be done. This is about having a VOICE. This is about having a CHOICE.

A new Pynchon, a new PTA-Pynchon, a new Pope, a new country I'm living in, and a new citizenship. For all it's horrible facets, 2025 is shaping up to be a really interesting year personally. I just need to actually get on top of writing 😅

Finding out I'm blocked on twitter by a journalist I really like and regularly read, but have never interacted with, is my personal 9/11. What did I do! 😭

Rockstar announcing that GTA VI is delayed to May 2026 is because they don't want to get smoked by Clair Obscur for GOTY. I will accept no alternative theory.

Fun Tariff Facts: during the depression the US lost access to many imported paper products. They were replaced with an unusually tough paper stock made of hemp from the Philippines (then a US colony, and tariff exempt).

Anyway, that’s why they were, and still are, called Manila folders /
envelopes.

anyone who is acting like the US and el salvadore simply accidently deported the wrong people and can’t find them is lying because they don’t want to admit they rather like that fascistic deporting of political enemies into death camps is essentially legal now
