THREAD: Judge Ellis is the first federal judge to review extensive body cam video of DHS's actions in Chicago. She finds that DHS *repeatedly* misled the public and made claims that were disproven by agents' own videos.

I'll go through some of the most egregious ones here.

One analytical model shows that, as of November 5th, the dismantling of U.S.A.I.D. has already caused the deaths of 600,000 people, two-thirds of them children. https://newyorkermag.visitlink.me/jUzNSc

If you need a whistle, please drop by our office (7016 N Clark Street) to pick up one for free.

If you see ICE, blow three short bursts.

If they are detaining someone, blow three long bursts.
If you are on ICE watch in the Rogers Park vicinity please have a buddy and exercise extreme caution. ICE has assaulted verifiers today and arrested at least one of our people. If you are vulnerable to ICE in this area, I recommend staying inside if possible.

NEW: The government does not track how often immigration agents grab citizens. So ProPublica did.

We found more than 170 such incidents since the start of the second Trump administration. Our tally — almost certainly incomplete — includes nearly 20 children, two of whom have cancer.

I would guess the Trump administration terrorizing immigrants (Including many drivers and passengers) in Chicago is much more disruptive to Lyft’s bottom line, but business only bares its teeth to advocate against liberal policies.

Trump’s sudden interest in DC crime is not in good faith. And yet the media establishment rushes to steelman and rationalize as if the issue wasn't just flooding the zone to move on from unflattering news cycles for Trump (ie Epstein).
Although crime is declining, Washington is still far more dangerous than it should be, Charles Fain Lehman argues. Instead of just looking tough, “the administration should focus its resources on the people and places that make the District unusually unsafe.” https://theatln.tc/6RCOGO23

Half of the posts on any big city's subreddit are tourists saying "I came for a [trip/conference/wedding] and your city is amazing! nothing like what my conservative family warned me about."
Here’s the RNC asking its donors if they’ve ever been to the big city, which it calls “rat and feces infested gang headquarters for illegal immigrants.” (Many of its donors live in big cities.)

Half the couples I know own a tiny abomination dog named Meatball or Nugget that can't breathe or see so it bites at anything that comes close and goes nuts if you ring the doorbell so you have to text when you get there or the night is ruined. These Nugget/Meatballs have a rabid IG following.

Cops brutalized protestors and arrested a journalist to keep a children's hospital chaplain in ICE detention. Absolute moral rot.
This happened yesterday and the video in the article (and photo) shows a Cincinnati cop repeatedly punching a protester in the back of the head, but sure, the protesters are the violent ones.
At least 15 arrested at ICE protest on Roebling Bridge. What we know
At least 15 people were arrested as a group calling for the release of a man detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement

I think this reflects a malleable understanding of the law that results from arbitrary executive orders and a Supreme Court that overturns longstanding precedent willy-nilly. There isn't a stable conception of "the law" in Trump's America, just what those in power can get away with.

i think the reality is that in the modern media ecosystem, the algorithms allow people to put almost anything in your face, no matter how rare, and convince you that it’s an epidemic
Men are not constantly being told “you’re bad,” they are constantly being told “LEFT WING SJWS THINK YOU’RE BAD” by conservative propaganda. There’s a huge difference.

Unidentified men grabbing someone off the street and putting her in a car because she wrote an op-Ed. This as flatly authoritarian as anything we’ve seen in this country in a very long time.
Video of the international student at Tufts being arrested by "federal authorities" in Massachusetts has been released and it's terrifying.

They're not even uniformed officers. Just secret police thugs in hoodies and masks.
