Look. I can't exactly explain what happened here. Just accept my vision.
It's hitting me that the Fugo in my current fic is both a "wakes up at 5 a.m. every morning to run" and a "drives around with tanks of kerosene in his trunk just in case the spirit moves him to burn down his parents' house" guy, and this might be it. This might be the weirdest I've ever made him.

After "film trilogy that dropped a critical plot point exclusively via timed Fortnite event" and "video game series whose story only makes sense if you're aware of the events of a canon pachinko machine", I feel like there are whole frontiers of user-hostile narrative design waiting to be explored.

Sometimes I wonder if I don't engage enough with Fugo's explosive rage in my writing. And then I remember that he only really blows up twice in the manga and three times in the anime (and one of those times was when he was 13). So 🤷

I think that one of the tough things about grief is when it manifests as anger/resentment instead of sadness. It feels somewhat off-script and less manageable.
