The 30-year non-linear extrapolation now shows +3°C in 2049!

I consider this unlikely but not impossible (considering Earth's Energy Imbalance has more than doubled).

From a precautionary principle perspective we should plan accordingly.

The linear extrapolation of the past 15 years and the nonlinear 30-year extrapolation now both put global warming at +1.54°C above 1850-1900.

Reaching +2°C in 2037 or 2034.

Using the @ecmwf.int ERA5 dataset.

Low tide at low elevations. So sad, the bigger, ritzier ski resorts up higher still have HUGE carbon footprints. The ski biz, like capitalism itself, is basically cannibalizing itself at this stage of the climate crisis.

This all indicates that the rate of warming could even be higher than I linearly extrapolated here, based on research by Grant Forster and @rahmstorf.bsky.social (who determined the global warming rate by corrected for natural variables), as the subtext included from the paper already warned:
