Qesser Zuhrah and Amy Gardiner-Gibson are on day 46 of their hunger strike. Heba Muraisi is on day 45. All are at a high risk of death.

In 1981 - the last time there was a hunger strike like this - Martin Hurson died after 46 days.

Israel has violated the U.S.-brokered Gaza ceasefire nearly 500 times in 44 days—killing 342 civilians, including children, women, and the elderly.

That's more than 11 violations every single day.

The genocide never stopped. Palestinians are still being killed.

The destruction of the Gaza city mosque is a devastating loss to humanity as a whole. A part of our global medieval heritage destroyed in furtherance to a genocide. I despair.
Built in the 13th century. So that mosque stood for 800 years with every sort of person from every place and every religion in the world passing through Gaza century after century, only for it to be blown up by some shithead loser sitting behind a computer that we probably paid for.
My rage knows no bounds

Just for perspective, a few weeks ago roughly 100,000 turned up for the London Trans+ Pride march. By contrast fewer than 3,000 ACROSS THE WHOLE COUNTRY, have turned up to anti-asylum "protests". Yet we are meant to take the latter as "the voice of the people" and the former as "the minority".

The targeted killing of Anas al-Sharif and five other journalists on Sunday means at least 242 Palestinian journalists have been killed by Israeli forces since the beginning of October 2023.

No conflict in modern history has seen a higher number of journalists killed.

A cis woman who has been subject to human rights abuses.

She’s won (again) by proving that the system is unfair and she wasn’t given a fair hearing.

There’s no world in which her fight isn’t for women’s rights.

(Sorry if you've seen this (and the historians' letter!) too many times. The lack of an algorithm means we have to keep reposting it to catch people, and this really matters.)
Heartened to see that close to 900 fellow academics and educators have already signed our letter in support of trans rights, trans wellbeing & trans inclusion, and against essentialist, anti-scientific, racialised & regressive views of womanhood. Please do read, share & sign! tinyurl.com/mud7va29

This. As a cis woman, I reject the premise that trans women are a threat to me or to my womanhood.
If I can make a suggestion: if you are a cis woman, include in your letter an explicit and forceful call for gendered spaces to be trans-inclusive.

Make it clear you reject the premise that the presence of a trans woman in a woman's space is in any way a threat to you as a woman.
Don't just wring your hands about how awful it is.

Contact lawmakers and let them know you are outraged. Let them know their constituents want answers about how they're going to protect trans people's access to spaces we've been using our whole lives.
