The most fundamental law of the sea is - *you do not leave people drown.* And every, *every* decent mariner knows that to the bone.
If your culture is picking up people *who minutes earlier were trying to kill you and sink your ship* then I don't think you're leaving refugees in the water.

The anti-apartheid Dunnes strike lasted 2 years 9 months. The women were relentlessly smeared and denounced by Dunnes, the govt, the "business community" and the Catholic hierarchy. They were routinely harassed by Gardaí. They had nothing to live on but union strike pay. They were right and they won
