Their cover of Dear Prudence is on my list of Covers Better Than the Original.
On this day in 1983, #siouxsieandthebanshees released "Nocturne" - their live double album featuring material from 1981's Juju and 1982's A Kiss in the Dreamhouse as well as their newest song, "Dear Prudence".

#RobertSmith of #TheCure was on guitars for this recording.

1/ I’d like to share what’s happened since Sept. 30, the night of the most dramatic raid of the Trump administration’s Operation Midway Blitz in Chicago. Under the cover of darkness, 37 immigrants were taken from an apartment complex …🧵

Also. I am getting a clue as to why AI is such a mania with people who are richer than they are smart. They DO need a machine to write things for them. And they don't understand why you would make art yourself if you can just buy it.
As a former public library worker, I had to assume every email I wrote would get FOIA'd, so I knew what to say and what not to say in writing. Either these are people who are overworked or over medicated or they really have no clue about how online works.
Oof.

Here's the article that Ruemmler, former Obama White House counsel, dismissed: www.thedailybeast.com/how-did-trum...

Teddy is hanging out in Edgewater but is probably ready to go home!
Rescued this teddy from the sidewalk near Sheridan and Winona

“The populist parties are also failing to address it in that they are not offering long-term solutions. But they’re much more successful at exploiting it for electoral support.”

Many Chicagoans could have written this. Thank you to the person who did.
“I want you to understand what it is like to live in Chicago during this time.”

Yes to all of this. And @alexverbeek.bsky.social is a great follow for the European perspective on America.
This perfectly encapsulates how I feel living in the US. The republican party is an insane death cult, the democratic party is 3 corporations in a trench coat, and the "socialists" are just the completely normal left-wing capitalists you'd find in any of 2 dozen European nations.
Europeans recognize Zohran Mamdani’s supposedly radical policies as ‘normal’
Critics of New York City’s mayor-elect have said his pledges of free bus service and universal childcare are unrealistic, but in Europe it’s a given

It's in our interest as voters to vote in people who 1) have expertise in a particular area in which the government is involved and 2) can and wants to share knowledge about said area.
It's been a while since I've done a non-political nerd thread. And I wish I could do them more often! So let's do a palette cleanse to talk about this article from WaPo that is technically true, but deeply misinformative about US electric markets. www.washingtonpost.com/climate-envi...
There’s a reason electricity prices are rising. And it’s not data centers.
It’s not data centers or AI, it’s something else.
