The Scopes Trial began 100 years ago today. Why do we even remember it? The power of theatre. Live performance makes things real and relatable.

My wife and I pay for life insurance even though we have never died. I pay for fire insurance even though my house has never burned down. That's not because we want to throw money at insurance companies. It's because THAT'S HOW INSURANCE WORKS.

Still thinking about this story. Imagine how cooked your brain has to be on Fox News -- how terrified you have to be, every day in your isolated suburban castle -- to start *shooting* when you see brown people at your door, before the door is even open. We're such a nation of terrified cowards.

Goodness me. I had no idea the Bond movies were supposed to form a coherent narrative from 1962 till now. This raises quite a few other questions.
Obviously Nick is right in this thread. Problem solved, martinis all round 🍸

Other than that, spot on.

People are pissed about the Senate. I am, too.
That’s why it’s so important that House Democrats continue to fight like hell for affordable health care (and hopefully get a few Rs to join us).
Silver lining: Rep. Grijalva can now be sworn in—which gives us the votes to release the Epstein files.
