I collect hobbies and books (not valuable ones, just ones I like). I love learning in general, religion & history in particular and I’m deconstructing the religion I was raised in.
Happy to see @smith.senate.gov on the Senate floor as well!

Love this!
Not for nothing, but you could run a game of D&D via filibuster.

"Will the Senator yield for a question?"

"I yield for a question without yielding the floor."

"Can I shove the gargoyle?"

"Roll for strength."

"9".

*17 minute description of the gargoyle not moving after being shoved*

@amyklobuchar.com & @smith.senate.gov I'd love to hear my state's senators asking questions and supporting @booker.senate.gov

I am in awe of @booker.senate.gov! @amyklobuchar.com & @smith.senate.gov I hope you’re on the floor supporting him.

This. Kind is more important than nice and fascists don’t deserve kindness or respect.
These fascists rely on liberals believing it is more important to be polite to fascists than it is to affirm the humanity of marginalized groups. If you go low, I'm going even lower in order to slice your Achilles.

100% this.
I remember watching Star Wars as a kid and asking myself, who would voluntarily join the dark side? I understood Darth Vader's motivation, but not the stormtrooper's.

I have a similar list
don’t get overwhelmed! pick 2-3 things and focus your energy there. for example, I am:
- crying in my morning coffee
- making a list of people I would like to catapult out to sea
- staring out the window

we don't reward bad behavior

which includes being unfunny
Stop letting unfunny men tell you there’s something wrong with you for not getting their “jokes”. Stop fake laughing. Let their reality reflect the truth of how fundamentally they misunderstand humor. Neuter their ability to use “it was a joke” for emotional cover. Make them see nobody laugh.

BREAKING, via The Seattle Times: Trump's executive order to restrict birthright citizenship is blocked for at least the next two weeks by a Reagan appointee in Seattle who eviscerated the Trump lawyers present defending the order. www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news...

I will not be rejoining the app. Trump started this and gets to benefit from “saving” it. If I wanted this kind of bs I’d still be on Twitter.
3 things about this message that greeted millions of Americans on TikTok today:

1) the shamelessness of Trump who just U-turned on his opposition to TikTok.
2) the shamelessness of these tech companies, sucking up to Trump.
3) the fecklessness of Biden who gave Trump this win.

They also have the CORRECT bakery for this of you who have moved to a state with the wrong one.
If you're craving some Girl Scout cookies, consider ordering from this Troop that serves the thousands of girls living in the New York City shelter system.
Satisfy your sweet tooth and do some serious good. They ship your cookies right to your door.

This is extra ridiculous today, when it’s easy to work remote in office based fields.
And women are told "you should go into a field where you'll be able to get a job wherever your husband has to follow his career"

When you're conditioned that your job *has* to be the flexible one for the move

(something I know @jessicacalarco.bsky.social writes about)
This is part of why women continue to choose women-dominated professions like teaching, nursing, social work, and counseling. These fields almost always have job openings, because they pay less than similar men-dominated jobs. Women I interview tell me that demand is reassuring... 1/

I told the lady at the drive-thru this morning that I liked her nails and her whole face lit up. It’s so easy to be kind.
An act of kindness is seldom wasted. Something small to you could be an event ever remembered by someone else. These acts, large and small, make all of us better.

Love this.
Anger is what gives us the courage to fight injustice. Which is why they'll call it a threat.
One prediction for 2025: expect more tone policing. Bad stuff will happen, people will get angry, and be told is the problem is the way they present their anger.

Just a reminder that the Salvation Army are, by policy, transphobic pricks. There’s no hate quite like Christian love.
