KM: If you could send your love to anyone, who would it be and why?

CL: Everyone. Even those who might hate me, and I hate them. Even those who are fundamentally motivated by hate. I want to live in a world where everybody deserves everything.

“I am ashamed my tuition is funding genocide..The horrors..may be easy to ignore for those lacking a moral backbone. For the rest of us,these atrocities cause us to take stock in our own complacency in the imperialist system.”

The university can’t be neutral. The university has never been a neutral place. Let’s pop that balloon right away. Refuse that bad fiction of the western university. It has been the site for the production of tremendous harm through “knowledge”.

I keep seeing this. Guys, their literal job is to figure out what to do. They are not helpless even if they are not the majority. I really hope we can stop treating some of the most powerful people in the world as helpless and without sentience.

I've thought about this a lot.
We could just be reading great books, watching good movies, and eating fruit. Instead we have to survive/fight miserable power hoarders. What a waste of limited time.

Resist Authoritarianism by Refusing to Obey in Advance

Help me with a piece of dialogue, Gen Z and Alpha and translators of Gen Z/Alpha. What do people say now instead of: “they’re checking you out.” Like in a flirty way? Thx! From a X -er who has no clue.

Heart shattering to learn an Israeli drone has targeted and assassinated Mahmoud Almadhoun, one of the founders and chefs behind the Gaza Soup Kitchen.

What started as four pots and essential ingredients in Bait Lahia had grown into a remarkable effort to feed 3,000 people daily.

Because, as Kat Blaque said in her most recent video, White women's "proximity to white men has always given them more power than their allyship to women of all races."

CBC’s Front Burner interviewed author David Bergen on his decision to boycott the #GillerPrize.
I encourage all of us in the #book industry to listen.

Politics, Gaza and money collide at The Giller Prize | Front Burner | CBC Podcasts | CBC Listen
For the last year, Canada’s premier literary award The Giller Prize has been embroiled in a controversy that has split the Canadian literary community. Last years gala was interrupted by protestors who rushed the stage carrying placards emblazoned with ‘Scotiabank Funds Genocide.’  What they were referring to was the fact The Giller’s lead sponsor, Scotiabank, was a principal shareholder of one of Israel’s largest weapons manufacturers. They also objected to a pair of Giller sponsors invested in the Israeli military and settlements in the occupied West Bank.  Since then, a number of former Giller winners, along with hundreds of bookworkers across the country have committed to a boycott. Winner of the 2005 Giller Prize David Bergen joins the show to discuss his decision not to attend this year’s Giller Prize – and a broader conversation about the duty of a writer, and whether it is possible for artists to reconcile their personal convictions with the interests of corporate sponsors.  For transcripts of Front Burner, please visit: https://www.cbc.ca/radio/frontburner/transcripts
