It’s a terrible bill. It will literally kill people. The most vulnerable among us will suffer as the wealthiest benefit. It’s perverse. I wish there were something I could do. But alas, I am only a U.S. Senator from Alaska whose “no” vote would kill the bill. So I voted yes. You get it.

New from Evan: You might know that the New York Times took a shameful victory lap the day after the Supreme Court ruled bans on gender affirming care are not discriminatory.

But what you probably don't know is that ban supporters cited NYT in their amicus briefs 29 times.

Meanwhile, other mainstream media newsrooms treated the U.S. v. Skrmetti case as an opportunity to center coverage around the expected result.

Let’s Be Clear: The Rioting In LA Is By The Cops, Not The Protestors
I already wrote about the GOP’s bloodthirsty desire to use the military on Americans. They manufactured a nonsense “crisis” by over-aggressively sending in ICE agents to grab people off the streets, leading to protests, which were focused on provoking protestors into violence, which would then be used to justify an even more violent crackdown. Given that, it’s crucial to get actual reports from what’s actually happening on the street, rather than relying on questionable media framing by those not actually there.

So, since bad history is damaging: when the civil rights movement talked about "nonviolence" they meant a set of tactics. They planned actions for maximum disruption and intentionally defied police and laws.

This is very different from how "peaceful protest" is meant by many using it today.
