Our campaign was anchored in the voices of struggling New Yorkers. Yesterday, we brought those voices straight to the Oval Office. We made clear that housing, safety, and lower costs are what New Yorkers need and what our administration will deliver.

It gets lost in the shuffle, but the Speaker of the House is someone who, by all rights, should’ve had his career ended a decade ago by a Shreveport TV news investigative team.
Fond memories of that time Mike Johnson was president of a local law school that never opened its doors, in part because it was attached to a Baptist college that was losing its accreditation, and in part because it was always a scam from the start
Mike Johnson -- who is, yes, theoretically a lawyer -- has not had a chance to look at the American Constitution because he's been very busy lately, folks, he just can't see everything, gosh, how is he supposed to know if it's wrong that the president called for the execution of congress members?

while I’m being cranky, access journalism needs to go. When the president does his “I’m alpha because I insulted you” thing somebody needs to fall on his sword and say “what the fuck is wrong with you, old man?” on a hot mic. the hero of the wizard of Oz is Toto.

it just seems plainly clear to me that if you serve the country in any capacity, civil or military, and you are not a conservative white man, the Trump administration wants to make the workplace as hostile an environment as possible so you remove yourself

Democratic messaging to our military about killing civilians extrajudicially is too polite. Soliders, sailors and Marines need fair warning that at a future point, a restored military judicial process will review these slayings, and those executing an unlawful order will be subject to that process.

It's not a foolproof plan but every political debate from now on should be a Normal Guy competition. Ask them to describe grocery shopping in detail. Talk about what it's like to have a friend

This tipped from ‘there are racists in the north, too’ into ‘Democrats don’t invest enough in southern campaigns’ and that’s where the trouble began. No one is writing off anyone but I’m also not spending $20 million to lose to Tate Reeves by 20 points instead of 22.

I understand why some white liberals from the Deep South want to insist that there isn't something distinct (and bad) about Southern political culture but the problem with this is that we wouldn't even have this idea of "The South" as distinct from the rest of the US if there wasn't a there there

This offer obviously does not apply to people on the left who think Democrats have betrayed them or to non-voters who feel like it doesn't matter either way. Just the one move: win over and welcome conservatives who hate your guts.

People want to believe that the GOP’s electoral success in red states is the result of dirty tricks and gerrymandering instead of the sincerely held beliefs of a majority of the population because a mechanical issue is easier to fix than wrestling with how to make people not believe what they do.

Whether it's garbage NYT left-bait or right wing flood-the-zone nonsense that we all pile on to, we are letting the wrong people set our overall information agenda in a very deep and fundamental way. And it's a very serious mistake.

Any other time, any other President, and "the dude was in a global conspiracy to fuck them kids" would have been 24/7 coverage. Even Dubya.
I remember the fucking Lewinsky coverage. Our media have become craven hacks carrying water for rich pedophiles and I feel insane typing that but there it is.

The South Parkian ethos of "conservatives being bad is preferable to liberals being annoyingly correct" has reached its apotheosis atop a mountain of child rape victims

The whole war on “woke” and “cancel culture” was contrived to protect the worst people in our society and make it possible for them to keep doing despicable things to other people.

If only our society took major crimes by rich people as seriously as minor crimes by poor people. Ideally more seriously. But as seriously would be a big improvement.

Instead of funneling endless amounts of money into our bloated Pentagon budget while thousands of veterans face homelessness and hunger, let’s use those funds to truly take care of our veterans — ensuring every one has a home, food, and access to medical and mental health care.
