NEWS: The D.C. Council just voted unanimously to decouple 13 provisions of the city's tax code from the federal code. It's a step to avoid some of the tax cuts (and loss of revenue) that would come from the GOP's tax bill passed earlier this year.
Confirmed: Next Tuesday the D.C. Council will consider a bill to decouple some of the local tax code from the federal one, in response to the GOP tax bill passed earlier this year. So, tips and OT pay will remain taxable, standard deduction for D.C. taxes won't change, etc.

We visited more than 40 Senate offices today and it's working. We're hearing more and more Senators ready to VOTE NO on this bad funding bill attempting to sabotage DC's local budget. Now we need to see it all the way through.

UPDATE—Mahmoud's attorney says they do NOT know where he is.
They were first told he was sent to an ICE facility in Elizabeth, NJ. But when his 8-month-pregnant wife tried to visit him, she was told he's not there.
They've received reports he may be sent as far away as Louisiana.

The Trump Administration’s decision to nuke its contract with TSA agents is a direct attack on unions and all democratic institutions.

In response, our union stands ready to boycott air travel and honor any work stoppages initiated by our siblings in the TSA.

Not great financial news for D.C.: The CFO's quarterly revenue estimate shows that for FY26, which starts in October, D.C. is expected to take in $325 million less than it expected back in December. And that repeats in the following years. A big cause: federal layoffs.
