Chat, is it a good sign when the Atlantic's Thanksgiving take is "cabbage is affordable"?
Cabbage is affordable, delicious, and astoundingly versatile, @giladedelman.bsky.social writes. The underrated crucifer “is fit for a king”:

The Blue Jays really missed an opportunity. Two down, bottom of the ninth, bases are loaded. You have to pinch hit Buddy Cole on a bar stool.

I caught this in Nathan's newsletter earlier and really enjoyed the ease of use, clarity of what information was being shared, and flexibility of the sorting. #digthisviz

Good thread. I've not read Art of the Deal, but based on Trump's entire adult life a "deal" is bullying or extorting in court to get what he wants. Nowadays, he uses the govt to bully institutions (or countries, when considering tariffs). The media normalizing it makes it so much worse.
It is not “deal-making.” It is extortion built on Christopher Rufo’s idea of “taking down” one or more elite university.

Wondering if @tableaupublic.bsky.social will become active now that they've decided to stop the #VizOfTheDay emails and we now have to "grab data inspiration whenever you want," which in my case will be never because I relied on the emails to push inspiration to me.

Just a reminder: having a functional moral compass right now is going to make you feel bad all the time; don’t mistakenly hate yourself for that.

My last shred of hope is that our system of checks and balances will be saved by the Supreme Court (i.e Congress is useless until 2027), perhaps even ironically by the three justices Trump appointed.

While this was a win, it's terrifying Alito would call this a "$2 billion penalty on...taxpayers."
Justice Alito dissents, along with Thomas, Gorsuch and Kavanaugh. Here is the final paragraph from the dissent.

Congrats to Mike Johnson on learning a new word (and repeating it at every chance) this week.

Also, "gonna be able to get the information" doesn't jive with the layoffs and agency/program shutdowns that have already happened. It's almost like they didn't bother understanding a thing so far. 🤔
