BREAKING:

The White House lashed out at the creators of this ad for "fear-mongering".

It must have really struck a nerve. Maybe they don't like being outed as fascists.

You know what to do: SPREAD THIS EVERYWHERE!

6 months later this commercial couldn't have been more on the nose, and how Republicans complained about the framing of what they're actually doing.

We don't need to give ICE agents more training. We need to subject them to rigorous oversight and, when they commit crimes, we need to prosecute them.

The only education they need is to learn that they can and will be held accountable for what they do in the field.
Chris Murphy: "The amount of training that's given to an ICE officer has been cut in half by this administration. The number of days of training they get are 47. You know why they get 47 days? As an homage to the vanity of POTUS. No wonder the number of violent incidents are going through the roof."

Good thread and a reminder that you should block these people on sight.

I understand if you feel powerless. But if your solution to that is to try to drag other people down into that state of helpless despair with you, that's a block.
It's weird, but I suppose not surprising, that the number of "nothing works, give up," Eeyores has exploded on Bluesky — just as we're responding to an incident that has every hallmark of a tide turner.

That seems counterintuitive. Shouldn't people be energized? Well, that's why. Bear with me....

This is the way and every single Democrat should be on board.

It won't get anywhere before the midterms, but it will make the midterms easier for Democrats to win and easier to take action on these promises once they do.

Be the party of accountability. Own that space, starting now.

Alaska officials gave false info to American Samoans, telling them they can vote. (They can’t, due to a unique status.)

Now, the state is threatening them with years in prison, part of GOP’s voting fraud panic.

@burness.bsky.social spent months reporting the story; spend some of your w-e with it.

In a small Alaska town, American Samoans face prosecution for voting in the only country they’ve ever known. They live in a limbo, created by colonial expansion, that now confuses even public official...

This is a wildly unethical study that would be illegal to conduct in the United States. Have you heard of the Tuskegee experiments (crimes against humanity)? This sounds like that.
CDC awards $1.6 million for new hepatitis B vaccine study in Guinea-Bissau. Although the award recipients aren't named, the grant seems tailored to Danish researchers whose work is championed by anti-vaxxers but challenged by mainstream scientists.

I hate the latest move to “food insecurity” and “unhoused”. When did we stop using hunger and homeless?

There is a world of difference between talking about food insecurity, a quite clinical term, and hunger, a much more visceral word.

Chicago police are required to document every time they pull someone over. But a new investigation reveals the department is releasing vastly incomplete data to oversight agencies, even as the superintendent pledges reforms.

Trump Administration Fires 8 Immigration Judges in New York

With tens of thousands of people in immigration detention, Trump has fired about 15% of the nation’s immigration judges. It appears they were fired for being “too lenient” i.e. exercising discretion in granting relief from deportation.

New, from me: Trump’s justification for invading American cities and other countries is to reduce the crime he is actively encouraging through his pardons.
It’s emblematic of how corrupt the pardon process has become under Trump.
