COVID isn’t acting like the viruses most of us grew up with, and treating it like “just a cold” is putting people at real risk. David Brasure breaks down why SARS-CoV-2 is fundamentally different, how it causes long-term damage, and what we can do to protect ourselves.

Living with Long COVID often feels like living in a horror movie. Along with your disease comes a creepy Hive Mind refusal to acknowledge the dangers of COVID infection. In Vince Gilligan's new Apple TV show Pluribus, the Hive Mind comes to life:

"Pluribus" captures the isolation of COVID-awareness in a COVID denialist world
For years I've described having Long COVID as living in a horror movie. Now that horror movie (well, prestige Apple TV show) is here.

DOGE and others in the administration want to build a giant database of records by haphazardly combining info the government collected for one purpose, like paying taxes, and use it for another purpose, like targeting immigrants. We can't let this happen. takebackctrl.org/get-a-warrant

No org, just the BlueSky community being generous 🤩

If you want to help keep the momentum going, here's a fresh thread of food banks in the states losing the most SNAP
Alright, team Bluesky: US foodbanks are about to have staggering demand when SNAP ends Nov 1st. We need to help them prepare.

I'll match donations: DM or reply with a receipt showing your own donation to a food bank of your choice, and I'll donate to match, up to a total of $500. 💪🥗🍲🥚🥧🥪🥣🥛

Once again Rolling Stone knocks it out of the park with Covid coverage.

Long Covid is real and it is a serious threat to our long term health.

It’s already surpassed asthma as the most common chronic illness in kids.

Yet tons of doctors and schools won’t even recognize it:
Long Covid Is Real -- And It's Changing an Entire Generation
Long Covid is affecting hundreds of thousands of kids in America, and many doctors and schools refuse to recognize their illness.

So. The Pinkertons.

That news item that went around yesterday about Emily Blunt playing Kate Warne? It's from four years ago. Last solid news about the Kate Warne biopic was from 2023. It seems clear that the movie is trapped in development hell and won't ever appear. Which is a good thing.
