In recognition of #WorldVacantHomesDay we are sharing a trio of research reports focused on questions of identifying and bringing vacant homes back into use. @maedhbhlikedave.bsky.social @kathleenstokes.bsky.social
Absolutely. Reading the testimonies of the students from this course, they express a better pedagogy of teaching and learning than those ‘delivering’ the modules. Despite the ever present time pressures, I think we must hold onto the ideal that education has a value beyond a qualification
I've said it before and I will say it again many times, people using "AI" to design and deliver 'teaching' to students, to mark their work, and in this case to (!) generate literal voice overs are risking their jobs, and frankly they *should* be at risk if they do this sort of thing:
‘We could have asked ChatGPT’: students fight back over course taught by AI
Staffordshire students say signs material was AI-generated included suspicious file names and rogue voiceover accent

Article with @dondeniamh.bsky.social & Rory Rowan in today's Irish Times - a response to the relentless media commentary deriding Ireland's neutrality.

As Catherine Connolly, and the movement behind her, has shown, neutrality remains popular. Something to build on, not abandon.

I’ve yet to get my head around the details of housing plan. But - and in the context of recent anti-planning discourse - is the infrastructure fund. Infrastructure is supposed to be delivered thru strategic spatial planning objectives, which is undermined by following where private development goes.

This is awful. Solidarity with UK colleagues against this cruel and stupid gutting of university education and disciplinary knowledge
Human Geography at Leicester is facing closure. Staff contracts are to end in June 2026; students are to be relocated to other universities, or taught out by a maximum of two (!) teaching-only staff. Other departments and subjects are facing closure, too. Please join the demo!

Great thread. I heard earlier this week that about 0.2% of planning applications are caught up by judicial review, which seems like a fairly reasonable number that can't really explain the housing crisis after all... ?
Despite the click-bait headline my contribution has been accurately reported in this piece by @eithnedodd.bsky.social unfortunately on the industry side the wool has been pulled over her eyes by the usual self-serving rhetoric

By way of followup a short 🧵
The rate of judicial review in Ireland is "off the charts," the Director of Housing and Planning at the Construction Industry Federation has said

"The deadliest day since the ceasefire began" is a hell of a concept tbh. 🤔
Israeli strikes in Gaza last night killed at least 91 people, including dozens of children, according to hospital reports. It was the deadliest day since the ceasefire began, though Donald Trump insists the deal will survive.
