✊ From the late 19th century, socialist movements adopted the raised fist as a symbol of unity and strength.
One of the first depictions was by Hungarian artist Mihály Biró in 1912. His image of a fist emerging from factories toward parliament in Budapest visualised the power of collective action.

As @drugdatadecoded.ca reported, the judge noted DULF "are being hung out to dry. As soon as politicians started complaining, all of a sudden VPD [local police]—which before was fine—suddenly was not fine.” She nonetheless ruled on procurement and distribution? Legal hair-spitting over justice?
BREAKING: DULF organizers found guilty of trafficking. More to come w/ @tsk.bsky.social in the courtroom today.

New York and California wins are amazing, but THIS Mississippi win is phenomenal! Democratic platforms can win outside the so called liberal center when there’s genuine platforms and community work that brings people together.
BREAKING: Democrats just broke the GOP supermajority in the Mississippi Senate!
In a stunning victory, Democrats gained seats in court-ordered special elections and will now head to Jackson to represent and fight on behalf of their constituents.

Looking forward to the $8 halal cart next time I’m in New York
The halal cart can seem niche but the issue is that NYC has a cap on vendor licenses such that many halal cart vendors don't have their own but are renting it from an intermediary which increases the cost of what has historically been one of the cheapest tastiest meals you can buy
Surprisingly effective things Zohran Mamdani ran on:
-free buses
-rent freeze
-halal cart for $8 instead of $10
-taxing the 1%
-no cost childcare
-city-owned grocery stores
-a Department Of Community Safety for mental health programs and crisis response
-building affordable housing
-why Cuomo sucks

If you can make it here, you can make it anywhere. Tonight/this morning the city is for optimists!
If a socialist can wrest power from the servants of oligarchy in the financial capital of the world—well, my friends around this country, around this world, what can you do to take the power back from them where you live?

Great piece on the politics of moving counter-hegemonic ideas into mainstream policy and practice. As this paper shows, there's not a huge amount of work bridging policy mobilities and the geographies of social movements, but really productive space for that work to be done.
