it isn't a lack of training. it isn't just feds. it's the cruelty the powerful compulsively inflict on the powerless.
On a night of life-threatening cold, a homeless person entered a Lansing bus station seeking refuge from the freezing temperatures.

Video shows police slamming them to the ground and pinning them with knees on their neck as they plead, "I'm here because it's cold outside, and I have nowhere to go."

Hey #SNL sorry I know it’s already Monday night, but an idea for you: Some presentation of the purely evil middle management that must be in place at ICE to keep motivating these guys to be so horrible. Either pre-recorded or, if you’re really bold, perform a historic takedown of ICE fucking LIVE.

It does feel nice and right to think of the people trying to destroy our civilization as barbarians.
I’m a big fan of civilization. Rule of law, public health, universities, science, all good things. Great stuff. It may not be ‘politically correct’ to say this but I’m also a fan of what civilizations have done to idiot barbarian hordes who attempted to trample on those things.

If ICE isn’t stopped after this month, would it be stopped after a premeditated public execution?

I keep thinking “my god the people they’ve killed seem like exceptionally good folks” and I think the lesson there is that they’re not exceptional, but that wonderful people abound and that a baseline distrust in humanity is a shitty conservative trope that privileges power over collective strength
you don't become a martyr because you were a saint, you become a saint because you were martyred
I agree that we can’t make Alex Pretti a Benedictine monk because that’s a trap, but we can talk about the good things we did because people will see and hear them and think “I do those things too”

Just staggered by the complete moral void of not even *pretending* to wait for more information before pivoting to “the opponent of the state deserved it.” It is so insanely depraved. Soulless.

All of this is fucking senseless. Minnesota did not have an immigration problem. Trump sent his Nazi thugs here because he's racist against Somali people and to own libs like Tim Walz. Now two Minnesotans are dead and Minneapolis is on the verge of going up in flames. None. Of. This. Was. Necessary.

At the end of the day, the Black Lives Matter era was about whether people should be killed in the street, and lots of people decided yeah and put those little blue flags on their cars. It spread to everyone because it stopped for no one.

As if I wasn’t feeling silly big bookstore nostalgia enough walking into a Barnes & Noble, they were playing Backwater by Meat Puppets outside the store and Change by Blind Melon inside. It’s like they were targeting my demographic down to the birth month.

Look at the difference of what love means for a democrat vs a republican. Dollars to donuts, every single uniqueness of the republican definition is icky, outdated, and/or Tim Walz-style WEIRD.

The whole Heart and Soul piano duet thing is pretty old school and the scene from Big is keeping it alive, because without that kids hear it from a) two people they know playing it together (kinda rare) b) YouTubers (maybe cool, but amongst thousands of other weird stunt piano duets)

Also, TV networks should start having ads for themselves like this. Thirty second spots with Ted Danson saying to the camera “Doesn’t it feel good to just sit at home and watch broadcast TV?”
That AMC ad for itself with Nicole Kidman that they play in the theaters… that should be replaced with Quentin Tarantino looking at the camera saying “You’re about to watch a fucking MOVIE, okay?”

This is the thing that really freaks me out about LLMs. I often don't know what I think about something until I've verbalised it. The process of writing is the process of clarifying my thoughts.
Writing and talking is how I get my thoughts and ideas in order and find myself with new ones I didn't have before.

It's weird that we have to say that.
