This is potentially ok news: we MIGHT be able to pressure the Senate enough, IF we press the 8 Dems who voted with the Republikkkans HARD.
PLEASE keep calling and leaving messages, find the numbers in my pinned post!
As many times as you can, as many Republikkkan as you can, and the 8 Dems!

Fascinating 🧵!
JUST POSTED: Everyone Is Wrong, our response to the recent series of arguments that – based on the hypothesis that Harris lost and Dems underperformed in 2024 due to (summarizing broadly) voters’ perceptions that Dems are too far left – Democrats need to move right to win.

Important!!
🚨 The shutdown isn’t over. The Senate vote was a procedural step, not a deal. Nothing is reopening. Nothing is fixed. Eight Democrats helped move an old GOP bill while families go unpaid and SNAP stays frozen.

Yes, the caving was shameful. But again, there are only two solutions to all of this, & both require 15-20 Congressional Republicans to decide they care about the Republic more than power & party. No, it's not going to happen. That doesn't make it less true. These folks get free passes everyday.

““The reality is the government was shut down the first day Trump entered office. We just didn't talk about it that way.” Only leverage Democrats have is power over appropriations and we (blame Schumer) screwed that up. We should have forced his resignation as leader after the Feb/Mar fiasco.
Some thoughts on the CR/minibus.
1 The Dems negotiating with Rs were not freelancing. They coordinated with Sen Schumer. A few were ready to give in on day one, others worked to maximize appropriations wins.
Those voting for the 'deal' are the ones furthest away from electoral consequences.

Schumer can be removed from his Dem leadership role this week - 23 Dems (and/or independents) just have to vote to depose him
And they should, given this is his fault.
And they should, given this is his fault.
This is a lovely sentiment but Schumer isn't up for re-election until 2028 and he knows this. At which point he will be 77/78. There's no mechanism to recall a sitting senator AFAIK.
Let’s be clear: Chuck Schumer is the one ending this shutdown, no matter how the votes read.
Chuck Schumer is claiming that he’s voting no, while letting other Senators (Fetterman, Kaine, King, etc) do HIS dirty work.
He must be removed from his leadership & primaried for the sake of this country

Quit Amazon and all of their affiliates now! They have already started replacing workers with robots. Their goal is to replace half a million workers with robots. Their reason? Humans are inefficient and cutting into their bottom line. But they need humans to buy their products so stop buying them!

ASL interpreters are a bizarre obsession with far-right Republicans. This isn't the first time they've been banished.
NEW: A federal judge said the decision by Trump WH to end sign language interpretation at briefings by Trump and Leavitt likely violated the Rehabilitation Act and harmed deaf people who communicate in ASL.

Again.
I think a lot about this quote from Anaïs Nin’s diary from 1939-1944:
“America is in even greater danger because of its cult of toughness, its hatred of sensitivity, and someday it may have to pay a price for this, because atrophy of feeling creates criminals”.
