A power network of organizers, activists and donors. We're here to upend politics as usual with research, intelligence and strategic action from across the winning diverse Democratic coalition. Listen to our new podcast, Charting the Way Forward!

The politics we have as Americans ultimately is up to us. We can choose for our democracy to be a dreary march to the drab center or running over groups of people with a metaphorical bus. Or we can choose an imagination battle that realigns the center so we can fight and build on favorable terrain.
"By June, the Democratic research group Way to Win found that voters responded to messages emphasizing how Trump’s actions, lack of due process for immigrants, and the administration’s refusal to be reined in by the courts were a threat to all of us."
Democratic leaders have the upper hand now and could use it to change the policy conversation about what immigration means to Americans. It’s the smart and strategic path.

And the least they could do to (partly) match the bravery of regular people. trib.al/dslnFwd
Democrats Should Take Control on Immigration
The battle over DHS funding should prompt Democrats to reexamine some of their assumptions on this topic.

“They weren’t uninformed, right?” @jenancona.bsky.social said of potential Harris voters who stayed home. “They just didn’t like what they heard. So that’s why I feel like it’s so important for any engagement plan to recognize how kind of burned and cynical these voters are.”

We are very excited to be included in this! Direct link to the @jenancona.bsky.social piece here. We spent a lot of '24 talking to voters and found profound alignment with Grumbach and Bonica's approach. We can not keep thinking small. Building a strategy around moderation has failed countless Dems.

NEW Charting the Way Forward. The question isn't whether we need to abolish ICE, the question is how we get this done. This is not the kind of argument Dems are used to winning, but on this issue, failure is not an option.

The Trump Admin constantly tries to tell us that only woke blue states are moving toward clean energy. The speed and scale of the wind, solar and energy storage buildout in Texas tells a very different story.
Texas power buildout in one picture: wind (green) laid the foundation, solar (yellow) is the new wave, and energy storage (purple) is clustering around load. This is the grid transition, mapped.

Really hard to explain. Stigmatize the whole population; racially profile; have masked thugs grab you and your neighbors from your communities, schools, and workplaces; destroy your businesses and raise your cost of living -- just doesn't make sense why he would be unpopular.

There's no problem Vance won't blame on immigrants, even if he has to invent the problem himself.

A few weeks ago he was insisting immigrants lived in cramped squalor and their (white) neighbors had a right to be upset about that.

Now they're so rich they're snatching up all the good houses? OK.
JD Vance: "A lot of young people are saying housing is way too expensive. Why is that? Because we flooded the country with 30 million illegal immigrants who were taking houses that ought by right go to American citizens."

Just one example of the thinking we'd like to see change. These ads got around $4M each in AZ and OH. Party brands are open source. Everyone gets a say. But it's possible the image of the party might improve if we stop spending millions of dollars each cycle telling voters how wrong we are.

Not only did key allies of the regime lose top races in New Jersey and Virginia, Americans rebuked his party in “local races – school board, city council, mayor, county – across the country,” as @simonwdc.bsky.social wrote. “Simply, Trump has been a terrible, terrible leader and people are pissed.”
new from @tusk81.bsky.social:

For months now, polling has been clear: "Americans have only been growing more and more outraged at Donald Trump’s disastrous agenda, including on immigration."

And last week’s elections drove that message home.
