My favourite meal I made this festive period was the Christmas Eve lamb with focaccia, salad and tzatziki. Yesterday was good too 🙏. But now I am exhausted! 🥱. #foodsky #whatscooking

Made some pork and shrimp siu mai last night, served them with a sweet chilli dip 😋. A bit arduous, but a huge batch that can be stored in the freezer is very useful. #foodsky #whatscooking

You might spot this moth in orbit this month 🛰️

The Satellite (Eupsilia transversa) can be found in areas of woodland and scrub from October through to April.

Satellite moth visitor, safely back outside now. I read it doesn’t truly hibernate and is active on mild nights.

It has become a Winter Solstice tradition for me to make a Yule log with my youngest granddaughter, Arrietty. Last year we decorated it with snowmen truffles, and this year we made a family of 10 chocolate marzipan hedgehogs!

Cladonia fimbriata is very common #lichen in Britain, but how splendid to see in such profusion! Distinguished from other similar pixie-cups by 'golf-tee' shape, and by surface of uniformly farinose i.e. 'powdery' soredia. I love the Winter Solstice, it feels like you're crossing the border from one time to another. The days get longer, the sun slowly begins to climb higher and all we need to do is watch the sunset push itself back later & later through January and we've made it.
