Whoo.

A lot of people want us to pack up our emotions solely so we can handle theirs . It’s a hard as hell lesson but noticing how much the “difficulty” of my emotional state was attached to my ability to do something for them while in it
I find that often people don’t have a lot grace for women who openly, freely, & naturally feel deeply…. The expectation is that we pack those emotions up quickly so everyone else isn’t uncomfortable because they’re ignoring theirs. It will take time to master detachment and honestly, a couple tries.

A woman wrote to The Atlantic about how she couldn’t leave her miserable marriage years ago and now the husband she can’t stand has dementia and she’s his only caregiver. He’s not far enough along for long-term care and they can’t afford it anyway. My god, what a nightmare scenario.

Reminder that in classic vampire folklore, both Slavic and Greek, vampires were chubby and red-faced, not thin and pale.

The thin, pale vampire arose literally overnight from a tuberculosis outbreak in New England

Whew. Shit.
My email signature has been this quote from Dune for quite some time:

I was talking to someone about this

Folks really thought they were gonna stop at just bad people or “those”’people

And like all abusers the final step is to dispose of you for believing them
This is expected from apocalypse cult Christians. Non-evangelicals are non-human and they exist only to die. Everyone “perishing from the earth” is the goal! “People are gonna die” is a success for them!

“I thought people understood” is the big giveaway. “You didn’t know your death is the plan??”
Against all odds, Joni Ernst has made it worse

The Kents teaching Clark manners ,ethics, coping skills and boundaries and raised one of the rarest things in the world :

A mostly emotionally well adjusted, intelligent, privileged white male heterosexual switch !

Bruce studied psychology, he knows this is rarer than diamond
And also, Batman respects and adores Clark because of this. That's an integral part of their relationship. He knows he can never save the world the way Clark does, not because of the powers, but because Clark is Clark, and he's for it.

There is a reason why RFK Jr enjoys popularity with wellness podcasters, why so many Americans reject socialised healthcare, and why so many refuse to endorse vaccines or GLP1s – it all boils down to a deep-seated belief that illness is a personal failing; people should not receive external help
The new Neil Halloran documentary on Smallpox has completely changed how I see the RFK Jr. version of the world. Neil (softly) argues that realizing that disease isn't the fault of the sick /or/ the fault of the Gods ushered in a new future where we felt the authority to care for each other.
