Here's something I post from time to time. My answer to a reader who asked me: what could journalists do NOW to break with some of their more corrosive habits.
The proper way forward for the non-MAGA party really is to articulate its core principles and do the work of convincing the electorate that theirs is the better path for society. Becoming a slightly less bad version of the opposition leads nowhere.
seems to me the basic error these centrists are making is that they are playing on enemy turf, rather than trying to raise the salience of issues that favor them
it's still wild to me that so many centrists want to triangulate on social issues when half the reason 2024 fundamentals were what they were was the economy

When I was in Paris a number of years ago, I remember a woman on a bicycle entering the traffic circle around the Arc de Triomphe. It looked absolutely harrowing.

All but three House Republicans just voted for Trump's tariffs. The procedural measure, which preemptively surrenders congressional power to stop Trump's tariffs, passed with all Democrats voting no. This was the vote count:

Senate Democrats should not go from defending the filibuster so they can use it someday to refusing to use it during a constitutional crisis.

Jeffries misunderstands the moment. Democrats being in the chamber is not about representation of the people. Democrats in the chamber signal that this is all just normal stuff. And it signals that Democrats have no idea what game they are even playing
