A couple of my younger friends are soon to have their 1st baby and I have a little starter pack of advice for the non-birthing partners (yes, I know this sounds like a set up for a bit, but no).

Actually I hadn't checked the pricing of Other Screenwriting Software in a while, and I notice that now the regular price for an *upgrade* there is $129.99 USD, and even on sale it's more than...the cost of a new copy of Fade In, for which updates are free.
If you’re thinking of buying Final Draft… save a load of cash and buy Fade In instead. It’s a 5th of the price, upgrades are free forever, and it works so much better (and looks nicer):

Driving w my Kid in the mid west, and saw an exit for Ashtabula (had no idea it was in OH) Kid put on "You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go" (my work is done) and we drove into town. Had a v good lunch and watched the Little League World Series (Aruba v. Taipei I think).

Here's what we did for long, twisty drives through the mountains. To figure milage, you got a big map, string, and thumb tacks and you pinned the string along the route and then measured its length against the map's scale and that's how many miles it was. I shit you not.

My grandmother's was "It's better to be 20 minutes late in this world than 20 years too early in the next".
My mother's #1 driving rule when I was 16 was that it's always fine (and safer) to miss a turn/exit. You can literally just get the next one and turn around. I am amazed how many people were apparently never taught this.
