mike love is an interesting figure because he's like the sole reason why the beach boys is considered by the wider public to be a kitschy oldies act instead of being considered second only to the beatles, like imagine if the beatles had a member that kept them from breaking from their moptop era
Some people just reflexively hate the Beach Boys because of the involvement of the odious Mike Love. Understandable. But mistaken.
