Good news though they do still make games like this but even better now and they is Freehold and the game is Caves of Qud
The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind (PC)
Beat the base game. I understand why this kind of design isn't mainstream anymore, but MAN do I love it. I did not understand how to play this as a kid but now I do and it was so rewarding. An ambitious political/religious setting and a fantastic world.

Some photos of my childhood shopping mall I saw on FB today. This was ~10 years before I ever went but this is how I remember it. That massive glass ceiling is still around, but most of the grenery and decor is long gone.

Seeing the Bill Watterson originals full of pencil lines of stuff that didn’t work, scuffs the eraser didn’t pick up, white out galore and more was something I needed to see to remind myself that nothing is perfect the first go and tweaks need to be made and you’re allowed to try again.

While I'm procrastinating sleep and talking games - SMT IV'S smirk merchanic is so funny. Press Turn is already so swingy and every now and then it can EXTRA swing, which feels euphoric when it happens to you. When it happens to an enemy, heaven forbid a boss, you might as well reload lol. Amazing.
