Survivors of religious & spiritual trauma can experience specific struggles around the winter holidays in particular that are misunderstood & unacknowledged by the culture-- so much so that survivors can learn to bury or belittle those struggles inside themselves.

This reply helped me realize why I find it so off-putting.
Ppl use “married” as shorthand for committed; same way ppl point to a person’s religion as proof they’re a good person. Objectively, they aren’t synonymous & unexamined acceptance of such commonplace things makes me question their judgment.

Haha, I know what you mean! I think some people just really like to emphasize the commitment, or maybe they just want to share a bit more about their relationship. It's like they want to highlight the official status.

Had an MRI on my brain, due to migraines, which found “FLAIR hyperintense lesions”…&, according to
Google results they’re either nothing to be particularly concerned about OR I’ve got dementia & will die in a couple weeks 🤣🤣🤣

Self-care is not as easy for trauma survivors as it may sound. We've been conditioned to deny our need for care ("needing" anything feels awfully vulnerable) & to prioritize others at our own expense.

SNAP recipients don’t need to “just go get a job”.
Most of them work. The rest are disabled, elderly, children or caregivers.
