Here’s my cut at what the stop removal portion of a St Clair streetcar upgrade could look like, cuts intermediate stops by a third, from 26 to 17, with only limited reduction in rider catchment within a 5 min walk. Together with signal priority upgrades, would cut travel times a lot -worth piloting!
Yes! Here are images of the St Clair streetcar with the current # of stops, and then with proposed stop reductions (which are still fairly close - see line 2 stations for reference), configured as you suggest, with tips 400 metres from stops but in a diamond shape to better model walk time in a grid

It’s beyond unacceptable that Via Rail keeps stranding people for lengthy delays like this - perhaps some of the money going to frequent PR ads for Alto’s vague plans could be redirected to investing in actually existing passenger rail
Via Rail’s quality of service is far, far below international standards – Canadians need to stop normalizing this:

“Via Rail passengers arrived in Ottawa more than 12 hours late on Thursday, after “serious mechanical issues” forced them to spend the night sitting on a train in Brockville, Ontario”

The secret sauce of Zurich's transit priority at intersections: two-stage crossings, variable length cycles made of stages that can change their length and order adaptively, and narrow lanes and intersections resulting in very short clearing times

Since Transit Signal Priority is a hot topic right now, here is a reminder of why. In a since deleted Q&A post from Metrolinx, they outline that the TTC essentially kneecapped transit priority on the Finch LRT and Eglinton LRT. We need to push Toronto to do better!

Certain members of Toronto City Council will insist to you that Toronto's development charges are 100% necessary and no municipality could fund its capital budget without them and that they have no impact on housing construction. I don't think those beliefs can survive contact with reality.

Yes on time and late trams should both have some level of priority (late trams should get more though), and from what I've heard that is the case on the LRT lines.

Here is the typical setup for TSP in the Netherlands:

Jealous, but congrats to Montreal and everyone who got the REM built
the biggest section of the REM (and imo the most important phase) opened today, basically extending a highway-median suburban branch into a full-fledged 50 km north-south metro across the montreal region

montreal now has a 119-kilometre metro system with 87 stations, by far the largest in canada!

I’ve been thinking a lot about a new kind of polling I’d like to see. We have polling that measures public opinion, which is obviously important, but I’d love to see a little more empirical work on public knowledge: what do voters know about politics and policy?

Musk: X will delete all heuristics from its recommendation system within six weeks. ...the familiar logic of likes, replies, and reposts that shaped Twitter for years is about to disappear. In its place, Grok, the platform's in-house Al model, will read and watch more than one hundred million posts.
