Her limbs stretch with the sound of groaning steel and grinding teeth. You would not find her beautiful, nor me. Her form has not been anthropomorphized, encased in sleek and sanitizing plating, given an image to engender her to the public. She is thew and ligaments like cable and raw muscle wrapped around osseous promontories and jagged, suppurating eruptions of life-severing weaponry. I am shorn and scarred and studded with rusting ritual implants. Separate, we are scorned, broken, reminders of failed branchings which would rather be forgotten. Together, joined, we are empowered to pursue our special interest. Kihachi Okamoto’s The Sword of Doom (1966) is a stunning looking movie, stellar black and white chill, and you barely notice because of how hard Tatsuya Nakadai commands every frame. Incredible psychopathy, masterclass performance of nihilistic narcissism. His eye acting here is mythic work.

"All you have to do is pour the salt onto it." In the early goings of Tower Dungeon, we're told there's a Slime ahead. Tsutomu Nihei's vision of what a fantasy Slime monster can be is as grand and terrifying as you'd expect.
A conversation between our heroes in which they strategize about how to fight a Giant Slime guarding the great hall ahead, "accurate in flinging secretions from a distance. DO NOT LET IT SEE YOU." Our MC is told "All you have to do is pour salt onto it." The reveal of the slime's room riddled with hundreds of skulls, we see a body lifted into the air barely holding together by the exposed spine and then a giant eye. A spread of a massive humanoid slime carrying that body while hovering through the air, dwarfing the warriors in the foreground. Dozens of dead bodies are stuck with mucus and slime to the pillars adorning the room.
